About the author
CLIVE STAPLES LEWIS (1898-1963) was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day. He was a fellow and tutor in English Literature at Oxford University until 1954 when he was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance English at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement. He wrote more than thirty books, allowing him to reach a vast audience, and his works continue to attract thousands of new readers every year. His most distinguished and popular accomplishments include Mere Christianity, Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and the universally acknowledged classics, the Chronicles of Narnia. To date, the Narnia books have sold over 100 million copies and been transformed into three major motion pictures.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2009The C.S. Lewis space trillogy in my opinion is one of the more enjoyable works that C.S.Lewis wrote. It is a fantasy written to an older audience than the Chronicles of Narnia and like the rest of his fiction works has a numerous ties to christian theology. The three books in the trillogy, Out of the Silent Planet, Peralandra, and That Hideous Strength follow chronologically but any one of them could be read on its own and make sense. My favorite is Peralandra as it deals with the fall of man in the garden of eden while remaining a well written story in its own right.
I greatly enjoyed the format of the volume I purchased where all three books were in one hard bound edition, that is mostly preference and the series is also available as individual hard and soft bound books and, I think, a soft bound volume.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2011I taught this trilogy about 20 years ago and left my copies at the school. If interested in a beautifully written, singularly unusual space fantasy, this is the best around. C.S. Lewis writes a beautiful and spellbinding tale wrapped in imagery and style that is totally amazing. I highly recommend this series to all levels of readers. This is quite different from the usual space stories. The story itself will keep you reading for the next adventure into deep space.Out of the Silent Planet (Space Trilogy, Book One)Perelandra (Space Trilogy, Book 2)[[ASIN:0743234928 That Hideous Strength (Space Trilogy, Book 3)
- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2013I was hoping for something closer to the Chronicles of Narnia. This was not my favorite of his writings. I found this rather boring. In many cases you could say a few words but he says hundreds. If you thought you were reading about fast paced adventures you won't. The basic stories are different and his ideas interesting. I just won't wade through them again.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2010Since I am a C.S. Lewis fan, I looked forward to reading these books. They were better than I had even anticipated--full of meaning for life (the struggle of good and evil) in the midst of an engaging story. The same main character (Dr. Ransom) appears in all three. The last one ("That Hideous Strength")was so fascinating that I could hardly wait to pick it up. These books require a thoughtful reader.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2014C.S. Lewis's Space Trilogy are the best, most believable science fiction/fantasy books I have ever read, maybe the best books of any kind. These books are new and still cased in plastic. I not only recommend this set to all my friends and family, I insist they get them. I would love to tell you every anecdote in each book that shows how stirring and believable they are, but I don't have two or three hours to do that, so you'll have to take my word for it.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2014Fantastic "adult" sci-fi.
Begins with Out of the Silent Planet, which is the easiest to read and gets more complex and difficult to digest as the story goes into Perelandra and ultimately ends with the largest book, That Hideous Strength. This is old-school sci-fi which has the flavor of hard sci-fi but is ultimately more philosophical than technical. Lewis was a master wordsmith and sci-fi fans should NOT miss this classic trilogy.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2012I've read this Trilogy more than once; and the second volume, "Perelandra," even more than that! To convey only a small taste of how engaging this work by C. S. Lewis is, during my first time reading of it, I was moved to exclaim, Out Loud, in the middle of a well-populated Interstate Bus, while in transit from Chicago to Michigan!!
Space Trilogy (3 Book Set) [Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, That Hideous Strength]
Perelandra: (Space Trilogy, Book Two)

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2013the description of 'good condition' is a little ambitious for books this old. But hard to find, rare, and no damage, just fading, is still a good find.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bizarre
It was good in some ways, distasteful in others. The enlightened mind may feel this was worth their time. Had a definite C.S.Lewis feel, while being altogether different than any other composition.
